Last summer, I made myself a sweet little tank shell from Shibui Fibers Twig yarn, a wool/silk/linen blend that feels cool and papery. I love that tank. I’d been looking for a good second Twig project for awhile when the Rockaway Beach Shell crossed my radar, and I decided it would make a great addition to my Spring/Summer Wardrobe Architect pile.
So right. I love this yarn, and this top was a perfect fit. The pattern was a piece of cake–it made for great Trivia Night knitting–and I finished it in a few weeks of polygamous knittery. I didn’t make any changes to the pattern, but if I did it over again I might have skipped going down a needle size for the waist shaping sections… the difference in my gauge wasn’t enough to make an appreciable difference, and I honestly don’t think this pattern needs the shaping. The drop-stitch pattern drapes so nicely it gives its own visual shaping. And the cool taupe color is such a nice neutral that it will let me play with wearing color in other places…hint hint of things to come. 😉

Gorgeous. The design shapes almost puts me in mind of tiny peacock plumes.
