When at work, Spotify has become my new best friend, and I’ve had a lot of fun putting together my own playlists. And, because I’m an egotistical jerk, I thought perhaps these lists should be shared. So, if you use Spotify and would like a little new music, may I present:

In the Summertime… (link)
34 tracks, 2 hours

When I was a kid, we had a boat. It was a 28.5′ Hunter sailboat. It was awesome.

It also had a pretty sweet soundsystem.

And since this was back in the pre-CD R days, much more cred has to be given to my dad. The man would use our Kenwood system at home to compile these EPIC mixtapes for use as “The Boat” soundtracks. And he took it seriously. Like, used the crossfade seriously.

I guess some really weird things are genetic, huh?

So, in celebration of my musically-inclined and anally-retentive forbear, I present this playlist. It’s a selection of songs that featured on one or more of those carefully compiled mixtapes, along with a few others that never fail to make me think of summer. Give it a listen to hasten the arrival of the summer. Like my dad, I thought long and hard about track order (though Spotify doesn’t have a crossfade option…as far as I know), so you might want to turn off shuffle for this one.

Enjoy!
