A pretty, lacy pair of fingerless gloves for my Mama. Knit out of a scrumptious alpaca/silk/camel/cashmere blend in a lovely color. Very simple lace, interesting construction, and small. A perfectly satisfying knit.
I ended up knitting these on dpns because I didn’t have the appropriate size in a long enough circular for magic loop. I did a provisional cast-on, and knit the first couple rows flat so I didn’t have to put up with a twisting cast-on in the round, and used the tail to sew up the little hole later. I fudged the numbers of the repeats a bit since I was using a slightly thicker yarn than the pattern called for and my row gauge was not on point AT ALL. I really liked the afterthought thumb, but I did steam block the gloves to be an actual “left” and “right” just to make them lay flat and pretty.
I hope my Banana likes them!

The fingerless gloves are beautiful! I love fingerless gloves – so practical and just right for our climate. I’ve knit several very simple, no-frill pairs. A provisional cast on is intriguing! It might be a great way to fancy mine up! Do tell if you ripped away! Aahhh, French Girl Knits. One of the few books in which I like everything! I have Veronique on needles. I chose that one because I have some beautiful blue mohair I got for a song at a garage sale, I was fascinated by the construction, and I didn’t want to keep track of any stitch pattern. I think I am about halfway through. When I got to a point in the pattern where I needed to think about what I was doing, my mind was rejecting anything but mindless knitting. I am curious how it will turn out, though, because I modified the pattern a bit after reading the reviews on Ravelry. Also, the 100% mohair I’m using is thicker and hairier than the Kidsilk Haze. We’ll see! I sure don’t want to rip out all that mohair! OK, back to my scarflette and socks 🙂

I sent a comment but I don’t see it, so just disregard this if it’s is a rerun! I will try to remember what I said! The fingerless gloves are beautiful!! I have knit several pair because they’re so practical and perfect for our climate. Mine have all been very simple with no frills, though, so I am intrigued by the possibilities with a provisional cast on. What a great idea! Might be a fun way to fancy mine up! Aaaahhh, French Girl Knits. One of the few books in which I like everything. I have Veronique on the needles. I chose that one because I had some beautiful blue mohair I got at an estate sale for a song, I was fascinated by the construction, and I didn’t want to think about a stitch pattern. As I recall, I’m about halfway finished. I stopped when I got to a point where I needed to focus, but my mind was rejecting anything which required thinking. I’m curious about how it will turn out because the 100% mohair is thicker and hairier than Kidsilk Haze, and I modified the pattern a bit after reading the reviews on Ravelry. For now, though, it’s still scarflettes and plain socks! Do tell if you had a ripping party!

Sorry this is late, link to my mail somehow snafued for a while.
I love, love, love these & want them in every color in the 64 box of crayons. Thank you so much. They are truly marvelous for work in the winter & oftentimes in the summer, too (as our offices can often double as butcher storage fridges).
<3 very much!! But not more than I love you. Love, Mom
