The pile of “Things I want to rip, reclaim their yarn, and make a new project with” has risen to four. Let’s review:
- The Butterfly dress, to which I dedicated this previous post (link)
- A cotton camisole that took on tent-like proportions once it was off the needles. I’ve been wanting to convert it to one of the summery tunics from French Girl Knits (link) for ages.
- The Pfeiffer Falls Hooded Scarf from this post (link). It just doesn’t fit my head closely enough to make it practical in windy weather, and I still have half a cone of it unused. If I rip, that’s a sweater.
- My Not-your-standard-issue Sweatshirt. It’s been languishing since early 2010, and I’ve got to be honest—I’m not really a pullover person. I much prefer cardigans. I think I’m going to rip and fiddle the gauge to make a Bella Swan-inspired sweater-hoodie (link). I’m not a Twi-hard by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a super-simple pattern already written up for this sweater and, I have to admit, Bella’s slobby-chic style in the films looks rather similar to mine. At least on no-makeup days.
So here there we are. I really really want to start on the sweater-hoodie, but I’m suffering what can only be termed an attack of conscience due to my wayward abandonment of my knitting geekery teammates. I have finished two challenges for Nerd Wars, and but one for BSG, and starting fresh on a hooded cardigan (aran-weight though it may be) will certainly assure that those tallies will remain as they are at the end of the month. Le sigh. What to do? Follow the knitting passions while they’ve grabbed me and have a ripping party this weekend, or be a good team player and finish my April socks and granny squares?
