I didn’t take Latin, but that’s one of the handful of things I keep in the ole brain-bank in order to sound acceptably pretentious.

I was all geared up last week to get back into the swing of blogging on the regular and whatnot, and then…

My life got eaten by Project Runway.

My job has a little deal with HP computers that when they have high-profile product placement stuffs to do in NYC , we get to take care of it. Which is all well and good, until I get a semi-panicky phone call from my boss on the evening of July 4th, telling me he can’t find a fourth tech for the on-set days, and needs me to work 30+ hours taking things out of boxes and hitting lots of buttons at the Parsons building.

So it was a whirlwind of activity, but it was fun. And the extra hours/pay bump will certainly help offset the time I’ll be off for Mr. Boyfriend’s and my trip to Portland for a wedding later this summer. I also got to see Tim Gunn in the flesh. He’s really tall.

Now, life-things… I’ve finished some other yarny goodness for my games this month, but I don’t feel much like detailing them. Instead, I offer pictures:

I knit a little cotton dumpling stuffy, filled to the gills with catnip, for the monster. So far, she’s rather attached to it. And I broke out the hook for a second Maude beanie when I saw that particularly lovely blue-purple Madeline Tosh yarn at Annie’s when I was subbing two Saturdays ago. The color is perfect for Kate, and I had thought the whole time while making the first that she would adore the pattern. So, self-imposed bug in the ear appeased, and hat gifted. And oh yeah, two challenges for NW and BSG games submitted. Hoo-hah.

I’m still plugging away at my sweater, and I’ve cast on for the lace stole that will be Heather’s wedding gift, assuming I can finish it in time. As of last night, I was about a fifth of the way there, so the outlook is rosy. I swapped out months in the Sock Club this month to better fit my socks to a NW challenge, but I have yet to start them. I am trying to ignore the fact that July is already one-third done.

There’s a fender-bender outside the office window. I’m just glad I’m indoors in the AC, and not sweating into a faint in the 90° heat out there.

So Mr. Boyfriend and I saw Soundgarden in concert Saturday night. It was at Jones Beach, and the weather was lovely, and they were great, and there would be nothing so nice as seeing an awesome band while smelling the sea if it weren’t for the all the Long Islanders. It’s a little galling to look out over a sea of people recording video on their smartphones of the show you’re all there to watch. Can’t you just watch it? What’s with the degree of separation? ENJOY THE MOMENT. And learn to drive.

My show closed last week. I had so much fun being a part of Team Galactic Girl, and I would probably be sadder it’s over if I wasn’t fairly certain there are new projects in the hopper with all those folk, and if Jon’s closing gift to us all hadn’t been intro decks for Magic: The Gathering.

Oh yeah. Mr. Boyfriend taught me how to play Magic a couple weeks ago. And I have threatened to invite Team GG over to the apartment for a big meal and a Battle Royale. Good times.

So that’s our whirlwind summer so far. How’s things for you?
