I still haven’t managed to figure out how to post pictures in the entries… I suppose I could always just link to my Flickr account or something, but seeing them in the entries just spruces things up so nicely. Sigh. Maybe someday.
For now, on to the knitting. After having forgot Bellatrix at the Boy’s apartment at last writing, I did indeed pull Aimee out of hibernating obscurity. I was amazed at myself, that I had made notes at my stopping point that were detailed enough to allow me to pick her right back up where I left off almost without a hitch. Her front side is nearly done, I just have to knit through the chest part and do the neckhole shaping, and then knit the sleeves. I think I’m going to go ahead and steam-block the front and back while I’m sleeving, just so they’ll be quick and ready to seam when all is done. This also means that I’m going to have to make my sash soon. Whew. Aimee… so close, and yet still so far.
I got Bellatrix back the very next day, since we were headed out to see the Yankees play on Friday night and I cannot sit through baseball without a sock. It’s inhumane. The game was awful, the weather was not, and I refused to pay $9.50 for watered-down beer, so I had a great big Coke and worked on Bella. I’d been a little worried about the bagginess of the leg, but kept knitting merrily onward, thinking “Oh, it’ll all be fine once the heel’s in place.”
Wrong.
This weekend, I turned the heel, picked up the gusset stitches, and tried it on, just for kicks.
FAR too baggy. I can pinch up more than an inch of extra fabric at the ankle.
So it’s down a needle size I must go… I’m just not sure how far. The pattern is written for two circular needles, but I really don’t want to buy $30 worth of Addis in size 0 only to find I actually needed a size 00… so I think the plan for the day is to rip back to the ribbing and go at it with my dpns… so much slower, but so much more cost efficient… sigh. I don’t mind dpns, in fact I prefer them sometimes when it helps me to keep track of pattern repeats (Pomatomous, AHEM), but circs are just so much quicker… and I was really looking forward to just dashing these out.
Ah well. This is what happens when we tempt the knitting gods with our arrogance. So I’m off to lunch and Bella on straight sticks. Wish me luck!
