Well folks, after much toil and travail, I have succeeded in transitioning my humble little blog from the open source version of MovableType I was using to the sleek, quick, every-idiot-can-use-it interface of WordPress. Joy!
I took an immediate liking to this theme template, but I had quite a bit of trouble getting it configured to my exacting specifications. Lots of cache-clearing and HTML-tweaking later, it is here as you see it.
Hopefully the ease of the new interface and the vastly improved spam filtering system will equal more posts with more pictures, and maybe even separate pages for free recipes and patterns as I get them up. I do realize I echo some version of this sentiment any time I give the blog a big honkin’ overhaul, but I really do mean it this time (riiiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhht), since babysitting the comments and some of the other administrative foibles of the old blog were very tedious and often discouraged me from posting with the very fact of their existence. But no more. Today, we usher in a new era of streamlined blogging, where you will be aware of my up-to-the-minute exploits with yarn and foodstuffs.
As soon as I actually finish something, that is. Ahem.
So the final administrative wrap up regards the comments. You can choose to remain much as you always have: lurkers, hiding nameless in the shadows, thinking your thoughts to yourself. OR you can take advantage of the amazing comment structure I have slaved for, that allows other folks (and me) to comment on your comments and get a really lively discussion going. Obviously, I don’t often compose political diatribes aimed at starting epic debates, but the very crafts I adore have been collaborative in nature throughout their long histories. I would like to foster that kind of community here, as I don’t feel like I learn or grow that much as an artist or a person by talking to myself. Just keep it constructive and friendly, and I will be thrilled.
Awesome. Now I’m going to bed.

There is nothing wrong with talking to yourself when it comes to your art– it creates paranoia, which is a great place to begin art. (I swear that is not a self-referential statement.)
In the interest of YOUR art, however, keep it up: the knitting, and the writing about the knitting. And the picture-uploading. (I just scrolled through your archives until I found the pic of my KStew gloves and my pretty scarf and got excited.) (Ugh my narcissism!)
Love you.

YAY! My Liss is first comment on brand-new blog! I will definitely try to keep it up… as should you (poke, nudge). I miss your pretty pictures, and I know there must be some parts of your new state that are photo-worthy.
And on the list of things I’ve made for you, someone bought that perfect sock yarn right out from under my nose, but I got another skein I think you’ll like while I wait for the Perfect Lis Color to be restocked. Now I just need a pattern. And some free time. 😉
I miss you, and Happy New Year!
