I realize I have been absent for a nigh-inexcusable amount of time. But, in keeping with my thoughts on the subject, I am not going to spend the first two paragraphs of this entry giving the whys and wherefores of my long-goneness. If there is something in all that expanse of time worth expounding upon, suffice it to say I will do so when the mood takes me.

So today, the greater urge to cook overcame the threat of heat and humidity lurking outside (might have been the two ACs going in the apartment, too. Maybe.) and I made something. I’ve also had a serious sweets craving for the past few days as well, and since Neimah had brought home a handful of lovely Fuji apples from a catering gig that weren’t going to get eaten otherwise…

Caramel Apple Crisp, à la mode. I sort of made it up as I went along, paying attention to the major crisp components of fruit and crumble, but with a few little tricks and additions. I would post the recipe, but that brings me to another little announcement:

Within the next couple weeks, I hope to have another website up and running. You can consider it my online garage sale. 🙂 I plan to post lots of recipes, knitting patterns as I come up with them, and any finished creations that don’t really have a place to go. I will certainly post a big splash here as soon as I get it ready to go, so be on the lookout. There will be some free downloads as well as paid stuff (and the recipes in particular are going to be a good deal, like a buck apiece). So there’s that.

In other news, I played Dungeons and Dragons for the first time a week ago. It was AWESOME. I have reached a personal plateau of geekdom. I don’t really know where one goes from here.

There’s been lots of knitting going on since February. I can’t even begin to recap it all, so if you want a look, check Ravelry. Currently, I’m working on a sweater apiece for the Banana and my Nanny Jo, a silk lace shawl for me, and a pair of plain ole socks in a not-at-all plain Noro yarn. It’s been too long since I knitted socks. I missed it. 🙂

I’m also on a serious Harry Potter kick, which I blame entirely on the trailer for the new movie. I reread all the books, rewatched all the movies, am considering rereading all the books AGAIN, and now browsing Potter-inspired knitting patterns (mostly socks) on Ravelry. I am truly sick.

But I seriously want some Durmstrang Socks. Can you blame me?

On the menu/blogoverse tomorrow: Roasted beet and jalapeño soup. And just to whet your appetite…
